1. Section 106 Consultation Support

We specialize in supporting clients through complex National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) Section 106 consultations, including large scale oil and gas, mining, and transportation projects involving phased planning and implementation. We enjoy the problem solving often involved in particularly complicated consultations, and our combination of Agency, SHPO review, and private sector consulting experience makes us uniquely qualified to provide this service.

  2. Cultural Resource Surveys

We are experienced in the survey, documentation and evaluation of cultural resources in both rural and urban Alaska.   In addition to survey reporting and AHRS site documentation, we are skilled in preparing National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) evaluations and nominations, historic structures reports (HSRs), Historic American Building Survey (HABS) documentation, and historic contexts. Our staff meet the Secretary of the Interior’s professional qualifications standards for Archaeology, Architectural History, and History.

  3. Historic Preservation

We can assist you with federal rehabilitation tax credit applications, building and neighborhood preservation planning, building and site maintenance planning, condition assessments, easement planning, and myriad other historic preservation related tasks.

  4. Subsistence Research and Review

Our principal and owner, Tracie Krauthoefer, formerly worked as a subsistence resource specialist for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game in the Yukon Kuskokwim Delta, where she developed, managed and conducted social science research projects on subsistence harvest and use, including regional harvest assessments and local knowledge (TEK) interviews, throughout the Delta.  As a consultant, Tracie has managed subsistence research programs for a number of projects in southcentral and interior Alaska, as well as the North Slope.

  5. Programmatic Agreements and Memorandums of Agreement

We are skilled in drafting and reviewing programmatic agreements for the phasing of large development projects, and memorandums of agreement for the resolution of adverse effects. We work with clients and consulting parties to identify and implement relevant, meaningful mitigation opportunities.
